Our 1966 GT40 underwent some restoration and repair this winter, in the form of removing both gas tanks to weld and relocate fittings.
Though it seems like a huge undertaking, the process went rather swimmingly. First, the gas caps and filler hoses were removed in order to access the tanks, followed by front suspension disassembly. Towards the end of the video, you can see both tanks (housed on either side of the vehicle cockpit) slide right out towards the front of the vehicle.
All told, the time it took from removing the first bolt to the tanks hitting the ground was about an hour and 30 minutes.
